Parent Online Consulting vs. Family Counseling

Parents need help with knowing how to guide their children with online choices.  We offer online consulting services to parents or families.  We have found that distance, time and privacy now require consulting services to be offered outside our office. We have found that using video calls along with email to discuss parent concerns can be very beneficial with helping parents guide their family around online dangers or risks.

We also believe that kids and teens can benefit from being a part of the process.  We encourage parents to include their kids in the conversation and setting up family rules for technology in their home.

After working with children and teens for the past several years, we've learned that many teens like to visit privately with us.  We have a process which includes texting or using video chat with kids and answering these private concerns, as well.

Our goal is to help families arrive at the best set of boundaries to protect their safety. We provide the knowledge and understanding how online reputations and internet access should be a constant conversation as the child grows and that parents don't need to give into the social norm of "knowing less about technology" then their children.

We don't offer online services for other mental health issues (depression, anxiety or other concerns) due to what is often required with theraputic repair.

"There are several online choices of filters and programs to help with internet safety or protect and educate families on this topic.  Our services help guide parents and consider child development and family dynamics in a personal way.   Also, as parents that have experienced all the new cell phone apps and constant social media platform changes, we have had a seat on this fast ride.  We, too, are sitting on the frontlines of action and are able to share successful tips and advice from a place of experience. We understand all to well the emotional tug of war of wanting to allow kids to enjoy and learn about technology while balancing what is truely a threat to privacy. "

Every family is different so there is not one fix or set of tips that fit every individual family's needs.
